Explore the Classic Rajasthan on bicycles, riding through some of the most beautiful country roads in India. An eight day cycling Expedition where you ride your bicycle through unexplored and some of the most scenic routes in the Rajasthani Countryside.
Jaipur: The city is famous for its walled city with markets and houses all painted in pink, thus the sobriquet “Pink City”. Experience the glorious history of the Amber fort and the magnificent City Palace. We start riding from Boraj Fort, a royal abode for the Rajput clan of the rulers of the area. We take the country route to the Bande Ke Balaji temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman. Witness the devotion of hundreds of the followers of Lord Hanuman.
Roopangarh: Ride through Phulera crossing the Sāmbhar Salt Lake which becomes a winter abode for the migratory birds of north-west Asia during winters, rare migratory birds can be sighted here. We then advance towards Roopangarh Fort, built in the 17th century by the ruler of Kishangarh, Maharaja Roop Singh. The name Roopangarh which directly translates to “the beauty of the city”
Lakshman Sagar: Hop on your bikes towards Raipur village near Pali located on the banks of the river Luni. The village is famous for its temples especially a temple devoted to lord Ganesha. Later check in to your hotel Lakshman Sagar Heritage Resort. The resort which used to be a palace was built in the 19th century by the ruler of Raipur and is spread over 32 acres.
Jodhpur: Get ready to cross the Luni River on your bicycles heading towards the city of Jodhpur through an unexplored route taking the country roads. The most significant part about Jodhpur is the blue painted houses surrounding the mighty Mehrangarh fort. The fort was built in the 15th Century under the reign of Maharaja Rao Jodha. Take a stroll through the gallery present with magnificent arts and antiques in the palace museum. The palace artifacts and crafts such as the 15th century royal palanquins are a rarity in any part of the world.
Ranakpur: We bid goodbye to the Jojawar royalty advancing towards Ranakpur, a fifteenth century pilgrimage of the Jain religion famous for the temple of the Adinath built in that era. One can be mesmerized by the large number of pillars with religious scriptures inscribed on them. Although it is impossible to count the pillars, it is said to 1444 pillars here.
We start early to be transported to the centre of the city where we are greeted by our Captain and the other support staff. We hop on our bicycles for a short tour of the Pink City, the walled city as it was originally built in the 18th century. The city’s markets, houses and walls all are painted in the color pink. Thus the sobriquet “Pink City” has been famously given to the city. We cover short distances riding through various temples and historical structures while we relish on some very delicious breakfast at the city’s very famous food joints. After finishing the tour we are transferred to our hotel, in the evening one has a choice to venture out into the markets and further explore the city.
We are transferred to Boraj, a quiet town just off the busy Jaipur Ajmer Expressway. We ride passing the temple town of Band ke Balaji devoted to lord Hanuman towards Sambhar Salt Lake. Later we check in to our hotel for the night.
In the morning we are transfered to the outskirts of the city of Beawar and start riding along the Luni River towards Raipur village. Guests have an option to visit the temple devoted to lord Ganesha near Raipur. Later we check into a heritage hotel for the night.
The day begins as we are transfered to The Sardar Samand Lake to an undulating ride towards Jodhpur, the Sun City. A guided walk through the mighty Mehrangarh fort built in the 15th Century by the maharaja Rao Jodha. We take an evening stroll in the old city market. Later we enjoy dinner our Royal Heritage Hotel in the heart of the city.
We take an early morning transfer to the outskirts of Pali, an old trading town from the medieval period. From the banks of the river Bandi we ride the stunningly beautiful and rough country roads towards Jojawar. Experience royalty in Jojawar with your stay at Rawla Jojawar, a beautiful fort turned boutique hotel.
Start early in the morning to ride towards Ranakpur Jain Temple. Enjoy the narrow but well laid country road at an undulating pace towards the temple. Spend some quiet time at the Jain temple discovering the literature and architecture of the 15th century. Later take the shuttle to Udaipur for the night’s stay at your hotel.
Today we start riding towards the tribal village of Jhadol, just outside Udaipur. The route is full of switchbacks. At Jhadol one can mix with the tribal people and learn their ways of life. After lunch we drive back to our Hotel in Udaipur.
As this lovely time spent on our bicycles ends here, we part ways with a souvenir for you to show your friends back home when you share your Rajasthan memoirs.
